How To Improve your online dating profile (and get more swipe rights)

While some people may be shyer in real life, online dating can be time-consuming and less effective despite the fact it presents numerous opportunities. The first step to success is to improve your online dating profile – this will ensure you’ll connect with the right people and have a better chance to get an actual date!

It’s true that a lot of people are searching for one night stands using dating apps such as Tinder, but it’s also possible to use these apps to meet someone you can have a healthy relationship with.

How To Improve your online dating profile

Nevertheless, your online dating profile might be in need of a revamp before that happens since you first need to get more swipe rights (a.k.a. matches). Only then will you be able to use your (hopefully) excellent conversation skills to get to know some potential partners. Here are the most important things you need to do in order to improve your online dating profile.

Post accurate photos of yourself

Yes, we’re in the era of heavy makeup, photo filters, editing apps that can erase a few pounds with just a few taps… get the idea. Sure, no one says you should post a photo of your morning face – in fact, it’s always a good idea to pick those photos where you look happy and/or relaxed but also put together.

However, imagine that you’d post a heavily edited photo (or one in which you’re wearing ten layers of makeup) and you go on a date with the risk that the other person might not recognize you in a face to face encounter. Well, that would certainly be awkward, right? Also, make sure the photos you choose are as current as possible and you have both portrait and full-body shots.

Don’t post photos with other people’s pets

If you have a pet then, by all means, feel free to post a photo of you and your furry (or non-furry) friend. Otherwise, using photos of you and other people’s pets can lead to a weird conversation, especially if you get a match to an actual pet owner.

Stay on topic and keep it short

A good bio will always include some of your favorite activities, hobbies and other stuff you like such as TV shows and musicians but refrain from listing them all. Choose just one or two of your interests and don’t go overboard with jokes either – if you have a good one, that should be more than enough.

And if you have some important aspects of your life that need to be mentioned such as children, or if you’re poly make sure you include those as well. You’ll never end up with the right person if you’re lying or hiding the truth from the start. While honesty may not get you more swipe rights, it will likely get you the right swipes.

Don’t post average photos

You might be wondering what I mean by “average”. I certainly don’t mean you should post weird or unusual photos, but there are certain trends that people tend to follow. One year yoga pics might seem cool, the next one guys will post images of them climbing a mountain. My point is, that you can post photos with your favorite activities, but choose the ones that make you stand out, not blend in.

If you have no idea what types of photos you should avoid posting, the easiest solution would be to ask a friend who dates your gender what are the most frequent pics they’ve come across.
